Opération Lune
« La Lune » is a ship of Louis XIV’s Navy , having cast off Toulon on November 6th 1664.
On 15 May 1993 the wreck of The Moon is discovered by chance by the Nautile submersible research of IFREMER5 lying 90 meters deep off Carqueiranne . The ship, as and when the years , collapsed on itself and the site has ended up creating a mound of 3.5 m high , the remaining artillery aligned.
We modeled the wreck site from the photogrammetry and data collected by the ROVs. This 3D model enabled the diver of the Navy to apprehend the best places before diving, and plan its mission. These images also served for a documentary , and we create a 3D web application on the occasion of its first broadcast on TV.
My team and I were in charge of the modeling of the wreck. A total of 12 artist and 2 engineers worked for 5 months on this project. I will always remember the first time I saw the 3D scans of the wreck !
